We know many parents have a busy schedule, and for this reason, tutoring takes place in the comfort of your own home. Children also thrive in an environment they are comfortable in, so learning is always a positive experience. Additionally, this allows us to provide the most time efficient lessons by eliminating in person pupil changeover time. Our lessons take place online, so that we can reach as many students as possible. We know that not everybody has the means of transportation to travel the distance to a brick and mortar building, and at Wright's Education, we like to be inclusive.

All of our tutors are SEN (special educational needs) trained, and qualified secondary school teachers with a minimum of four years experience. Our friendly staff know how to engage your child, and deliver the material tailored to their individual needs. We ensure this by giving your child routine assessments which regularly gauge their level and highlight strengths and weaknesses.

We take a proactive approach to learning, and are equipped with a number of strategies to engage student's in their learning. Ultimately, we have the capacity to adapt to a range of abilities, and our aim is for your child to feel supported and well prepared.

Verbal reasoning is used in both the GL and CEM assessments but as they test for different things, separate books are used for the two different examination styles. GL allows students to think constructively, and it goes beyond understanding individual word definitions, whereas CEM is more about the vocabulary (see the vocabulary section for more information). In order to be successful at Verbal Reasoning, the student is encouraged to read advanced books and note down vocabulary they are unsure of. They should then write the definitions and attempt to memorise them and use them actively in verbal and written sentences.
English tests a child's comprehension skills and how well they are able to read and interpret a text. Questions can range from word level, right up to analytical skills based on inference and deduction. Wright's Education strongly encourages students to read a variety of materials (from story books to news articles etc.) in order to enhance their vocabulary, spelling and reading skills.
Maths allows students to enhance their problem solving skills, and understanding of data and numerical information. Our books cover all of the examination topics comprehensively with plenty of practice to ensure your child grows in confidence. We highly recommend your child is fully confident in their Times Tables up to and including the 12's before enrolling on the course. Students should also be confident in telling the time on both the analogue and digital clocks.
Vocabulary is about understanding a wide range of word definitions, principally demonstrated in the recognition of antonyms and synonyms. Students will also have to be able to unscramble sentences quickly, and identify the unnecessary word in the sentence. We use a range of handwritten materials and highly recommended vocabulary books to ensure your child gets the practice they need. Vocabulary is a key element to the CEM entrance examinations but is also useful in the GL style of examination.
Non-verbal reasoning is the ability to interpret and understand pictorial information and recognise sequences using visual recognition. It is important to practise the content as much as possible as it is the only subject which is not covered in state schools. Students will have to have a basic understanding of symmetry and use their analytical skills to identify relationships between varying objects.

During sessions, your child will be following a structured schedule catered to their individual needs, and at the end of each lesson, brief feedback will be offered when needed. We see the importance of monitoring your child's progress, which is why we offer a termly report enabling you to work extra on weaker areas. In addition, the report gives you as a parent, an indication as to where your child is ranked against other pupils at Wright's Education.

As the tests take place in a high-pressure environment, we make sure your child is well equipped with not only knowledge, but 11+ techniques to give them the confidence going into the exam. We cover the tricks and tips needed for achieving good scores, as well as having the right mind-set and keeping up the good spirit all the way to the end. We do this by splitting the hourly lesson into two or three different subjects for variety, and by the efficient use of time to cover a range of topics. This helps your child not to lose focus, thereby maximising their learning potential.

Our one year course begins in September, and finishes the following September to guarantee your child is steadily learning throughout the academic year, and increasing in confidence through practice. The first lesson will be a conversation with both you and your child to gain an idea of what schools you have your hearts set on. Going forward, lessons will cover the subjects based on the schools for which you wish your child to take an entrance exam. These subjects will not be the same for all pupils, and books used will be based specifically for your requested schools.

The Non-Verbal reasoning book is the first book to be covered because it is a non-school subject, and it will help to develop cognitive thinking from the start. This is crucial for the exams, as it helps in deciphering information quickly and with dexterity. Maths is studied in the new year as students' will most likely be familiar with more of the material by then, and will be able to tackle questions with greater confidence. This is essential in consolidating and revising knowledge learnt at school, helping the child to retain the knowledge for longer. Our main targets are to complete all of your child's relevant subjects and complimentary tests efficiently, so that we can identify and respond to weaker areas within a timely manner. By the end of the year, your child will know how to analyse data, work through quick arithmetic, develop their logic, and become familiar with new forms of lexis and semantics. Your child is sure to leave Wright's Education with extensive knowledge to see them through the successful admission into a grammar school, and to boost their confidence in tackling the SATs.

The weekly sessions are charged at £27 per hour, which comprises of a 60 minute lesson covering a thorough study of a variety of topics. The session is also a chance to review any tuition homework completed the previous week, and to ensure your child has understood the relevant tasks.

At Wright's Education we believe all people from all backgrounds should have an equal chance of getting a place at a grammar school. Money should not be the sole factor. That is why our dedicated service provides discounted tuition to one quarter of its students.

Wright's Education views discounted 11+ tuition as an essential element in narrowing the gap between those of high and low income households. Every year, thousands of gifted students miss out on the opportunity to access a more prestigious level of education because they do not have the means to pay for tuition, putting those students at a disadvantage. We cannot provide discounted 11+ tuition for every eligible child, but we can do our part in ensuring that those in need of financial support, can have a chance at entering a grammar school.

To ensure we get the right students, there are some requirements your child will have to fulfil, including taking a live test online with a Wright's Education approved tutor. Please look below for further reference to see if your child meets the eligibility requirements.
You are eligible to apply for one of our discounted places if all of the following are applicable to your child*:
-
Your child qualifies for free school meals
-
Your child is pupil premium
-
A teacher reference is provided from a valid school email address
*Proof will be required before tutoring commences in September. Further information will be supplied upon enrolment on the course.

If your child fulfils all of the requirements, and has been accepted, they will be tested to gauge their level. They will then be placed into a group with a maximum of three students who are of similar ability. Having small groups allows us to cater to your child's individual needs, while also increasing their chances of getting a place on the course.

We are hoping your child will have the chance to make the most of our discounted tutoring programme.
